Freight Farms & Arcadia Partnership
Freight Farms and Arcadia have partnered to give Freight Farmers access to affordable clean energy in a time where the United States’ power grid is dominated by fossil fuels.
By simply connecting your farm’s utility account, Arcadia will immediately begin matching 100% of the Freight Farm’s electricity by purchasing an equivalent amount of clean energy in the form of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). The result reduces Freight Farmers’ carbon footprint to one-quarter of industrial farming operations.
The only nationwide clean energy platform in the country.
Arcadia is the only nationwide tech company focused on consumer energy. Arcadia’s software manages consumer utility accounts to bundle clean energy, energy efficiency tools, and rate monitoring together in a simplified, modern account experience.
The company’s platform integrates with more than 125 utilities in all 50 states, managing 4.5 terawatt-hours of residential energy demand.

Clean Energy in 2 minutes
Registering with Arcadia is simple and fast. In just two minutes, you can connect your existing farm utility to Arcadia’s platform.
As soon as you’re connected, Arcadia calculates your farm’s electricity usage and matches it with clean energy in the form of RECs.
How Renewable Energy Works
Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)
In the US, we use Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to track renewable energy in the power grid.1 REC is created whenever a clean energy source (like a wind, solar, hydro, or geothermal plant) produces 1 MWh of electricity. When a farm uses 1 MWh of electricity, they can then retire the 1 REC, meaning they have officially used the energy. Arcadia sources, verifies, and purchases RECs. They then retire the RECs on your behalf for the energy you use in your farm.
Reduce Your Electric Bill
Based on location and other factors, Arcadia can even help farmers save on their electricity bills, providing both a competitive and financial advantage to using clean energy for their business. Farmers located in MA, RI, NY, IL, CO, MD can get access to community solar farms at no cost, which can lower your electricity bills. All other U.S. Freight Farmers can sign up for $5/month to access clean energy.
Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Indoor farming methods, like container farming, outperform industrial farming in a lot of ways. The farms use less water, the crops travel fewer miles, and the resulting flavor is more robust. But we're always working to improve our energy consumption, which has a direct impact on our overall carbon footprint. We took a look at how clean energy sources can drastically improve the sustainability of our container farms.
