About Town to Table
When Jack Levine first arrived at Clark University and saw his university's Freight Farm, he had no idea he was encountering his future career. After graduating in 2019, Jack launched Town to Table, a concept born from a business plan he developed for his undergraduate thesis. At its core, T2T aims to connect communities to farming on multiple levels.
Beyond providing local greens to distributors in the Boston area, Jack and his team work with schools and non-profits to develop interactive school gardens, engaging lesson plans, field trips, job training programs, and more.

5 Impactful Ways to Farm on Campus
Jack’s experience on campus was hugely impactful to his decision to pursue a farming career. We look at how other schools are encouraging young people to think differently about food, education, sustainability, and more.
Inspiring Farmers from a Young Age
Jack’s story fits right into the intersection of two main topics of conversation here at Freight Farms: inspiring young people with farms on campus, and starting successful farming businesses. With Jack focusing much of his business on paying his own experiences forward, the cycle is complete! Here are resources to inspire young people–before or after graduation–to consider becoming sustainable farmers in their communities.
Clark University & Sodexo
Where Jack’s story started! Clark University was one of the first schools to bring a Freight Farm on campus. By creating a partnership with Sodexo, they were able to smoothly integrate the farm produce into the dining halls and create formative internship and job opportunities.
Saint Joseph’s College of Maine
SJCME is taking the inspiration of young minds to a whole new level. With dining hall, curriculum, and student employment integration, they are setting the standard for how diverse a campus farm can be. The SCJME farm is even part of an exciting new certificate program through the school’s unique Institute for Local Food Systems Innovation.
